MEET THE FOUNDER
Kelly’s lifelong passion for animals began at the age of four, when she asked her parents for a puppy. Over the years, her love for animals grew as she brought home dogs and cats, and had a pony and many horses during her childhood. As an adult, she cared for a variety of animals and volunteered at zoos, working closely with primates like Capuchins and Gibbons as well as Clouded Leopards, Caracals, Servals, Bob Cats and Fox which deepened her love and understanding of exotic animals and their needs.
After completing the necessary requirements in Florida, and her volunteering over a thousand hours, building an enclosure, and passing inspections she obtained her license to care for primates. Kelly is licensed through both Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and USDA, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance. Now, driven by the urgent need to protect primates from illegal poaching, trafficking, & unsuitable homes, she founded Silhouette Island Sanctuary. The Sanctuary provides a safe haven for these incredible animals, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve for the rest of their lives.
A Special Thank You to My Husband, Rico

Rico has been a tremendous help, from building enclosures to caring for our beloved animals. Without him, this sanctuary wouldn’t have happened. Thank you, Rico, for always being by my side and embracing this journey with me.

With Heartfelt Appreciation to My Dear Friend, Samia Molina
I also want to give a huge, thank you to Samia Molina. Samia has been by my side throughout this entire journey of opening the sanctuary.
